Parramatta Eels fullback Jarryd Hayne is a 1.70 favourite to wear the number 1 jersey for NSW in game one of the 2013 State Of Origin series.

Sportingbet Australia (http://www.sportingbet.com.au/partners.asp?btag=a_806b_464) CEO Michael Sullivan said Hayne deserves to be the frontrunner for the position after scans revealed Brett Stewart could be sidelined for up to six weeks, ruling the Manly fullback out of Origin game 1.

“Hayne’s the obvious favourite as he can shift from the wing and he’s filled the position previously for the Blues back in 2010,” Sullivan said.

“Michael Gordon has been in sensational form at fullback for Cronulla though and deserves to be towards the top of the market,” Sullivan said.

Gordon is a $4.50 equal second favourite with Sportingbet along with Anthony Minichiello, who played fullback for NSW during the 2011 series.

Stewart is in the market at $6 in the event he makes a rapid recovery. Former NSW Captain Kurt Gidley is a $21 chance with Sportingbet.

Punters have reacted to news that Johnathan Thurston is suffering from a virus by backing New South Wales into equal favouritism with Queensland for game 1 of the 2013 State Of Origin series at ANZ stadium on Wednesday night.

The Blues have been backed from $1.95 into $1.91, while Queensland’s odds have drifted from $1.87 out to $1.91.

“The money is just starting to tip in New South Wales’ favour and should it continue like this the Blues will start game one as favourites,” Sportingbet Australia (http://www.sportingbet.com.au/partners.asp?btag=a_806b_464) CEO Michael Sullivan said.

“Queensland could be 2 point underdogs come Wednesday which is remarkable when you consider they’ve won 7 straight series,” Sullivan said.

“The Maroons are still the popular pick to win the series though and they’ve been backed from $1.80 into $1.70 to make it eight straight,” Sullivan said.

New South Wales are $2.10 outsiders with Sportingbet to win the series.

Paul Gallen has been backed from $7 into $5 for the most run metres of the series and is now equal favourite with Jarryd Hayne and Billy Slater.

NSW Captain Paul Gallen insists he won’t play 80 minutes in game 1 of State Of Origin at ANZ stadium tomorrow night, but that hasn’t stopped punters from heavily supporting the Blues enforcer to rack up the most run metres of the 2013 Origin series.

Gallen has replaced fullback Jarryd Hayne as favourite in Sportingbet’s Series Most Run Metres market, with punters slashing his price from $7 into $3.

“With Gallen’s role changing this series from previous years we thought Hayne and Slater deserved favouritism for most metres, but punters still only want Gal,” Sportingbet Australia (http://www.sportingbet.com.au/partners.asp?btag=a_806b_464) CEO Michael Sullivan said.

“We’ve written four times as many bets on Gallen in this market than what we have for any other player from either side,” Sullivan said.

Hayne’s odds have eased from $4 to $5 on the back of the support for Gallen, while Queensland fullback Billy Slater’s odds have drifted from $5 to $6. Greg Inglis is a $9 fourth favourite.

In Sportingbet’s Most Tackles Of The 2013 Origin Series market, Robbie Farah has been supported from $2.25 into a clear-cut $1.80 favourite. Cameron Smith is a $2 second favourite.

Meantime, one Sportingbet punter has wagered $11,000 at $1.91 on a New South Wales victory in game 1. NSW is now a $1.87 favourite at Sportingbet with Queensland’s odds of victory in the series opener drifting from $1.87 out to $1.97 since Sunday.

A string of significant bets for the Blues has seen New South Wales steal favouritism off Queensland for the Origin series opener at ANZ stadium tomorrow night.

The odds of a Blues victory in game 1 have been slashed from $1.97 into $1.87 with Sportingbet Australia since Sunday, while Queensland’s odds have drifted from $1.87 to $1.97 in the same period.

Sportingbet Australia (http://www.sportingbet.com.au/partners.asp?btag=a_806b_464) CEO Michael Sullivan expects more money to arrive for the Blues tomorrow.

“The big punters generally unleash on game day but we’ve already taken some significant five figure bets on the Blues to win,” Sullivan said.

“The cash has started to come in two for 1 in favour of the Blues and if it continues like this, NSW could easily be three or even four point favourites by kick off,” Sullivan said.

“It’s baffling really when you consider Queensland is on a seven series winning streak,” Sullivan said.

Robbie Farah is a $6 equal favourite with Johnathan Thurston to be Man Of The Match, while Greg Inglis and Cooper Cronk are on the second line of betting at $8.

The odds of a NSW victory in State Of Origin game 1 continue to shorten with the Blues set to start tonight’s series opener at ANZ stadium as clear-cut favourites.

Punters have slashed the Blues odds from $1.97 into $1.83 since Sunday, while Queensland’s odds have drifted from $1.87 out to $2.02.

“The money is coming in 70/30 in favour of the Blues,” Sportingbet Australia (http://www.sportingbet.com.au/partners.asp?btag=a_806b_464) CEO Michael Sullivan said.

“It is surprising when you consider the Origin experience of the Queensland team and the fact they’ve won seven straight series,” Sullivan said.

NSW hooker Robbie Farah is a $6 favourite with Sportingbet to be Man Of The Match in front of Queensland’s Johnathan Thurston and Cooper Cronk, both at $7.
