Phil Mickelson’s odds of winning the 2013 British Open have tumbled from $26 into $19.

“Mickelson’s price has plummeted since his Scottish Open victory and he has been the best backed contender to beat Tiger Woods,” Sportingbet Australia (http://www.sportingbet.com.au/partners.asp?btag=a_806b_464) spokesman Andrew Brown said.

Woods’ odds have eased from $10 to $11 on the back of the support for Mickelson, while Australia’s Adam Scott remains a firm $17 second favourite.

“Scott is Australia’s best hope at victory and he will certainly be looking to make up for the disappointment of losing last year’s Championship in the final few holes,” Brown said.

Justin Rose is a $21 fourth favourite ahead of Graeme McDowell at $23, Rory McIlroy at $26 and Ernie Els and Jason Day, both at $29.

Scott is $2.25 at Sportingbet.com.au to be top Australian, ahead of Jason Day at $3.50, Geoff Ogilvy at $11, Marc Leishman at $12 and John Senden at $15.

Sportingbet.com.au is betting to 6th place on all each-way bets at this year’s Open Championship.
