    Doncaster Mile

Last year’s runner-up Shoot Out has been the best supported runner following this morning’s Doncaster Mile barrier draw, with punters backing the Chris Waller trained six-year-old from $15 into a $14 outright third favourite.

“We were immediately hit with a $4,000 bet at $15 and we’ve taken a stack of each way money at that quote,” Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said.

“If it’s a dry track on Saturday, Shoot Out could shorten into $10 and even challenge for second favouritism ahead of Norzita,” Sullivan said.

The Bart Cummings trained Norzita eased slightly from $8 to $8.50 with Sportingbet after drawing barrier 17.

“The barrier shouldn’t prove too much of an obstacle as this race is always run at a fast clip and she’ll get her chance to finish over the top of them,” Sullivan said.

Pierro, who has won three from three this campaign including Group 1 victories in the George Ryder Stakes and Canterbury Stakes, is a clear-cut $2.15 favourite with Sportingbet.

“He’s defeated older horses at weight for age his last two starts and Gai obviously knows how to train a Doncaster winner,” Sullivan said.
