Lucie Safarova- Dominika Cibulkova

Lucie Safarova served us incredibly well at Roland Garros (preview from one of her early matches there can be found below) and has taken a well earned rest since making the final there and it might take her a little while to find her feet on grass, but she could hardly ask for a better opponent today and I suspect Lucie will want to win a couple of matches here at Eastbourne, so that she can take some confidence on the surface into Wimbledon , where she has a lot of points to defend, having made the semis last year. She lost at this stage here leading up to that, but it was 7-6 in the third to two time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova and she had played Birmingham the week previously, so motivated for a win or two this week, just to blow those clay cobwebs away. She beat Dominika Cibulkova in R3 at Wimbledon last year (4&2), where she allowed her diminutive opponent just three break points and only 11 winners. Safarova is 7-1 against players under 1.67m since the start of last year and really ought to have too many guns for Cibulkova, who is another player we have done well with, but not on this surface, which doesn't play to her strengths as well as others. Also , she has not played at all since Antwerp , which was well over four months ago, following achilles surgery, until this week. She did win yesterday, but could have probably seen off 18 yo wild card Harriet Dart who is ranked outside the top 350 on one leg , she will face a far sterner test today and I suspect the new number 6 in the world is too much, too soon, at this stage of Cibulkova's comeback. Lucie Safarova -4 games 1.91 Pinnacle/Sportmarket Pro......2-0 in sets would have to be the alternative.
