    NFL - Week 3

NFL continues into week 3 this weekend. Below are some previews of selected fixtures.
    • Two of the highest scoring teams in the league go head to head when the Bills host the Patriots. The fixture currently has an O/U of 53.5.
    • Cam Newton and the Panthers will fancy their chances of picking up a first win of the season when they host the Jaguars, who are on the second of consecutive road games.
    • The Chargers start firm favourites when they host the wounded Chiefs, who have lost Jamaal Charles for the season. The Chiefs were thumped 48-3 by the Lions last week, which is ominous given the Chargers offense.
    • Despite playing in consecutive away games, the Cardinals will start favourites against a Seahawks side that failed to post a single point last week in their 24-0 loss to the Steelers.
    • In a rematch of the NFC Championship game last season the Chicago Bears host the Green Bay Packers in a game where both sides will fancy their chances.
    • The Steelers will start -10.5 favourites when they take on the struggling Colts, who are still without Peyton Manning.

Below are the latest odds (subject to change):

Continuing with my tracking of the 'expert' picks from CBS Sports, below are the results from last week.

For the head to head picks, which aren't necessarily betting suggestions, all five experts agreed on:

    Carolina v Green Bay (1.19) <-- CORRECT
    Detroit (1.24) v Kansas City <-- CORRECT
    New Orleans (1.33) v Chicago <-- CORRECT
    NY Jets (1.22) v Jacksonville <-- CORRECT
    Pittsburgh (1.10) v Seattle <-- CORRECT
    Tennessee v Baltimore (1.38) <-- INCORRECT
    San Francisco v Dallas (1.60) <-- CORRECT
NY Giants (1.35) v St. Louis <-- CORRECT

For the line picks the only game that every expert agreed on was:

    Minnesota v Tampa Bay (+3.5) <-- CORRECT

Four of the five agreed on:

    Buffalo v Oakland (+4.5) <-- CORRECT
    Carolina v Green Bay (-10.5) <-- INCORRECT
Indianapolis (+2.5) v Cleveland <-- INCORRECT <-- note the expert with the best record picked Cleveland
    Pittsburgh (-14.5) v Seattle <-- CORRECT
    Tennessee (+6.5) v Baltimore <-- CORRECT
    San Francisco v Dallas (-3.5) <-- INCORRECT

The expert with the best record has been tearing it up. For the line bets he has a 23-9 record! Another guy has a 20-12 line record, so he too would make a killing had he been a punter.

Below are the expert picks for week 3.

For the head to head picks, which aren't necessarily betting suggestions, all five experts agreed on:

    Buffalo v New England (1.25)
    Carolina (1.53) v Jacksonville
San Diego (1.10) v Kansas City
    St Louis v Baltimore (1.49)
    Seattle v Arizona (1.51)
    Tampa Bay v Atlanta (2.08)

For the line picks all five experts agreed on:
    Tampa Bay v Atlanta (+1.5)
    Indianapolis v Pittsburgh (-10.5)

The NFL this season is proving tough for the punters. Who could have predicted the Patriots would blow their lead against Buffalo? I'm so glad the game was on in the middle of the night, because in-play betting would have been brutal!

Below are the picks that all five experts had agreed on.

      Head to head predictions:

      Buffalo v [B]New England (1.25) <-- INCORRECT
      [B]Carolina (1.53) v Jacksonville <-- CORRECT
[B]San Diego (1.10) v Kansas City <-- CORRECT (but closer than the odds suggested)
      St Louis v Baltimore (1.49) <-- CORRECT
      Seattle v Arizona (1.51) <-- INCORRECT
      Tampa Bay v Atlanta (2.08) <-- INCORRECT

      Line picks:

      Tampa Bay v [B]Atlanta (+1.5) <-- INCORRECT
      Indianapolis v [B]Pittsburgh (-10.5) <-- INCORRECT
