Punters have abandoned raging Caulfield Cup favourite December Draw in the days leading up to the race with money coming for a number of runners at double figure odds.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said he was keen to take December Draw on and had blown him to $2.70 from $2.30 but punters were still looking elsewhere.
“We are already standing December Draw for a fortune after laying some big bets months ago including one of $25,000 at $10 but I am happy to keep laying him,” Sullivan said.
“We have wound him out to $2.70 but punters don’t want a bar of him at the moment.
“The two best backed runners have been Mighty High who has been $13 to $9 with a bet of $9000 at $12 and Southern Speed who has been $21 to $15.
“There has also been some good money for Manighar who has been $21 to $17 and Saptapadi at $26 who was impressive in the Sportingbet Herbert Power last week.”
Sullivan said there had also been no support this week for Lucas Cranach who had drifted from $7.00 to $13 after news of hoof problems broke.
