Weekend racing preview - Nov 11/12

Below are comments on selected races from the traders at IASbet.

Sandown Race 5 - Alannah and Madeline Foundation Stakes
Under The Eiffel ($2.70) was an impressive winner during the Flemington Carnival and drops 5kg in weight for this and is clearly the one to beat. Launay ($4.50) should be nearing peak fitness. He’s very consistent and can be expected to be competitive in this. Sistine Angel ($9.00) drops back in class from a Group One and will be running on if there is enough speed in the race. Largo Lad ($13.00) missed a run in the Emirates as emergency, but this is his right level and he can run well.

Sandown Race 7 – Sandown Guineas
Strong edition of the Guineas with plenty of depth. Galah ($3.00) is rated on top, he’s won his last four races, handles all conditions and although he only got there on the line last time, this race looks no harder. Mahisara ($5.50) is second pick. He ran well last Saturday when posted wide throughout and he is drawn to get a better run here. There wasn’t enough speed last time for Red Rain ($17.00) to be competitive, but a better tempo is expected so he should be running on. A good roughie in this race is So Swift ($15.00) who won his maiden at Hamilton, but was competitive in town prior to that.

Sandown Race 8 – Eclipse Stakes
Erewhon ($4.20) was a little disappointing last time at Flemington but he drops 5.5kg and looks suited at the 1800m. Second pick is Lord Pyrus ($11.00) who ran on well in the Sale Cup and is a winner at this distance. The next two are Platinum Passion ($8.50) and Extra Zero ($8.00). Both have been competing in stronger races and are sure to be competitive in this.
