Below are comments on selected Ascot races from the traders at IASbet.

Railway Stakes – Ascot Race 8 (http://record.iasbetaffiliates.com/_SUPLHJFRM3OmKyjKP6IsY2Nd7ZgqdRLk/1/betting/horses-aus-nz/ascot/race-8-126379.html)
Big field with a host of chances in this Group One. He’s Remarkable ($6.50) looks hard top beat. He scored a big win last start at Flemington with 59kg, and he gets in well with the weights here. This race appears to suit him perfectly at this stage of his preparation. Ranger ($3.60) has improved a lot this time in, he loves the 1600m and looks the best of the locals. Lucky Gray ($5.50) is lightly raced but has plenty of upside in him. His tricky barrier is a concern. Kincaple ($15.00) is a wildcard at odds. He’s been freshened since winning the Kalgoorlie Cup, but does have an excellent turn of foot. Waratah’s Secret ($13.00) is another one at odds who has the class and should get a great run behind the leader.

Winterbottom Stakes – Ascot Race 9 (http://record.iasbetaffiliates.com/_SUPLHJFRM3OmKyjKP6IsY2Nd7ZgqdRLk/1/betting/horses-aus-nz/ascot/race-9-126380.html)
Unfortunately Black Caviar didn’t make it across for this race. That leaves Ortensia ($2.25) with her best chance to claim a Group One. She won this race two years ago, when Group Two status, and looks the only true Weight For Age horse in this field. She flew first up, and with the hot Craig Williams in the saddle, only needs to reproduce her Flemington performance to win this. The danger is Rarefied ($6.00) who put in a great run behind Sister Madly in the Salinger and appears to have the class to step up to WFA racing. The 1200m suits Avante (21.00) and she is in good form. Include Werd ($21.00) in exotics. He should be able to control the tempo and might hang on for a place.
