What does everyone think? Will Spain make it three major tournaments in a row? Will either of the hosts survive the group stage? Any big sides to bow out early?

The only bet I've made so far is Sweden (+0.5) against Ukraine @ 1.51. As your preview points out they scored a bag of goals in qualifying and Ukraine have been average in their friendlies. I may even make a smaller wager on Sweden to beat Ukraine @ 3.10.

I predict some low scoring fixtures, so I'll play close attention to the under 2.5 odds. I'm also going to take a page from casper's book (see man city v utd thread) and seriously consider under 1.5 goals for some games.

For winner betting I may wait for the first round of fixtures to be completed first. At the moment it's hard to look past Spain, Germany and Holland, although I think there are a few others with a chance.

Here are my match predictions for the first round of games...

Poland v Greece - draw (under 2.5 goals)
Russia v Czech Republic - Russia
Holland v Denmark - Holland
Germany v Portugal - Germany or draw
Spain v Italy - Spain or draw (under 2.5 goals)
Ireland v Croatia - draw (under 2.5 goals)
France v England - draw (under 2.5 goals)
Ukraine v Sweden - Sweden

I'll add my thoughts as well.

MATCHES
Poland to beat Greece @ 2.05
Robert Lewandowski first scorer @ 5.00
Netherlands to beat Denmark @ 1.60
Ireland v Croatia over 2.5 goals @ 2.47

For the above, I think Greece are awful and Poland will be quite handy this tournament with Lewandowski up front. The Dutch will be too strong for Denmark, while Ireland and Croatia will be going all out for a win before they have to play Spain and Italy.

FUTURES
Netherlands to win @ 6.50
Robin van Persie top scorer @ 10
Poland to qualify from Group A @ 1.70
Greece not to qualify from Group A @ 1.48
Greece under 2.5 goals @ 2.15
Ukraine not to qualify from Group D @ 1.53
Robin van Persie top scorer for Netherlands @ 2.60
Robert Lewandowski top scorer for Poland @ 2.50
Zlatan Ibrahimovic top scorer for Sweden @ 3.00
Steven Gerrard top scorer for England @ 8.00
Karim Benzema top scorer for France @ 2.85
Karim Benzema over 1.5 goals @ 1.70

Most of these speak for themselves, but I thought I'd add that Gerrard is my smoky for top English scorer given Rooney is suspended for the first two matches and Lampard isn't playing. Not sure on the stats, but I've got a feeling Gerrard smashes it for England when Lampard is out of the team and the two are both pretty poor when playing together. With Scott Parker playing as the holding midfielder, Gerrard will have a licence to attack. Also, Hodgson has chosen Gerrard as skipper, so he's guaranteed of playing!

Here are the results of my first round guesses...

Poland v Greece - draw (under 2.5 goals) ---- 1-1
Russia v Czech Republic - Russia ---- 4-1
Holland v Denmark - Holland ---- 0-1
Germany v Portugal - Germany or draw ---- 1-0
Spain v Italy - Spain or draw (under 2.5 goals) ---- 1-1
Ireland v Croatia - draw (under 2.5 goals) ---- 1-3
France v England - draw (under 2.5 goals) ---- 1-1
Ukraine v Sweden - Sweden ---- 2-1

My predictions for the next round are...

Poland v Russia - Russia
Greece v Czech Republic - draw (under 2.5 goals)
Holland v Germany - Germany
Denmark v Portugal - draw
Spain v Ireland - Spain
Italy v Croatia - draw
Sweden v England - England (under 2.5 goals)
Ukraine v France - France

I agree Andy with your comments re: Gerrard. It may be a blessing in disguise that Lampard is out because England have never found away to play them effectively together.

Just found this excellent thread. My bets for the last two games are:

Sweden v England
- $5.00 on under 1.5 goals @ 3.30
- $10 on under 2.5 goals @ 1.75

Ukraine v France
- $5.00 on France draw no bet @ 1.40 -- I chickened out on France H2H because of Ukraine's home advantage

Lawro (Mark Lawrenson) has posted his predictions for the quarter finals. He's predicting Portugal, Germany, and Spain to get through in 90 minutes and England to get through on penalties:
