    Weekend racing preview - March 3rd 2012

The following comments are from the traders at IASbet.

    Australian Guineas – Group 1 - Flemington Race 6

Good speed here, with Helmet ($3.20) sure to contest the early lead with First Course ($121.00) and Decircles ($19.00). Consider Helmet to be vulnerable, and no value at his current short quote, as he is yet to show he has come back from a torrid Spring campaign. Mosheen ($5.50) is top pick, despite being in need of an inspired ride from Nikolic from her wide alley. She gave the colts weight, and a beating, first up, and receives 2kg weight relief from them here. Definite danger is That’s The One ($8.00) – 3 from 3 on big tracks, relishes soft conditions, and he is still virtually untapped. Rough chances to stable mates Instinction ($8.50) and Proliferate ($8.00), and to Huegill ($26.00), who has blinkers on and finally gets to a big track.

PFD Food Services Stakes – Group 3 – Flemington Race 8

I’m Discreet ($5.00) should find her own lead. She has very good course and distance stats, and is 2 from 2 on the quick back up. Fancy Booklet ($5.00) here, who has an excellent fresh record, loves soft ground, and her 2nd to Lady Lynette last preparation in a similar race should be good enough form for this. Another of the favourites is Golden Penny ($5.50), who is racing consistently, but steps up in class, and doesn’t appear good value at her current quote. Raspberries ($10.00) is the class runner here. Look for her to be finding the line late.

Inter Dominion Final – Race 7 - Gloucester Park, Friday Night

It is anticipated to be one of the most fascinating finals in years with race favourite Im Themightyquinn ($1.80), Smoken Up ($3.60) and Auckland Reactor ($8.00) all going through the series undefeated. Throw in Mr Feelgood ($5.00), who went out and broke the track record in breathtaking fashion in the last heat, and you can see we certainly have a race on our hands!

It is expected that Mr Feelgood and Smoken Up will have a speed duel early to find the lead, with their dangers Im Themightyquinn and Auckland Reactor sitting back and having the last shot at them. The early betting suggests the home town hero Im Themightyquinn may have the edge on his rivals.
