    Weekend racing preview - May 12th 2012

The following previews are from the traders at IASbet.

BTC Cup – Doomben Race 7

High speed race that looks to have many chances. Since gaining Group 1 status in 2006, other than Black Caviar’s 2 length win last year, the other 5 races were decided by a short half head. Tipping Sea Siren ($7.00) to be highly competitive. She had blinkers applied for the first time two starts ago when she landed a betting plunge in good fashion followed up by a narrow second to Streama. She’s first up here but was put away with this race in mind, and is drawn to get a very nice run. Buffering ($2.70) has been well found in the market, but could be vulnerable late, as he has to cross from his wide barrier. Woorim ($11.00) has been freshened following an infection in Sydney. He possesses brilliant acceleration and at his best is a big chance. Beaded ($9.00) and Varenna Miss ($12.00) both raced well here last winter and must be considered.

RA Lee Stakes – Morphettville Race 6

Historically this has been a race for lightly weighted horses, and two horses fitting that profile are both 4yo’s on the improve. Carry Me Bluey ($8.00) found the line well when a fast finishing second 1st up. Top Drop ($8.00) was not suited first up behind Zaratone in Sydney, but that has been a very strong form race. Two mares, Mid Summer Music ($4.50) and Parables ($6.50) are both very well placed on their best form.

The Goodwood – Morphettville Race 7

A happy 21st to Black Caviar who looks set to dominate again. To add some value for punters, our market without Black Caviar is very popular. Go The Knuckle ($4.60) is top pick in this market as he has been excellent finding the line in his recent runs, he looks very talented. We’re Gonna Rock ($3.20) at his best would be the hardest to beat but was a shade disappointing last time, but previous form good. Slight query on a wet track. Stirling Grove ($4.60) ran well last time hitting the line strongly and will be competitive in the favourite out market.
