The following is a press release from Sportingbet Australia:
Money continues to come for the Gai Waterhouse trained Just The Tonic in the Golden Rose following the colt’s impressive win on debut at Canterbury on Wednesday.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said the three year old had been well backed at $201 before the win and the money had kept coming.
“We took one bet to win $15,000 and another four to win $10,000 each at the $201 so there was obviously a wrap on him well before the win,” Sullivan said.
“We tightened him up to $51 on Wednesday but the money has kept coming and he is now into $19.
“The fact Gai Waterhouse came out and gave it such a big wrap has obviously given punters plenty of confidence.”
Sullivan said there had also been money for a number of other runners in the Rose this week.
“Flight of Pegasus has been $151 to $41 with one bet to win $30,000 among a number of other good sized bets,” he said.
“Fontelina has also been backed from $101 to $41 with bets including $90,000 to $1000 each way.”
