Sydney Swans midfielder Josh Kennedy is being very well supported late in betting for tonight’s AFL Brownlow Medal.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said money has been pouring in for Kennedy all day forcing his price of winning the Brownlow medal to be slashed.
“Kennedy was backed to win $20,000 in the space of just a few hours and his price has been crunched from $16 into $13 after a steady stream of solid bets,” Sullivan said.
“Interestingly we’ve written hardly any bets for Gary Ablett today and he is now $4.00 out to $4.50.”
“There’s been solid support for Trent Cotchin and he’s into equal favouritism with Ablett,” Sullivan said.
Cotchin has history against him as no Tiger has won the medal in the past 40 years.
Essendon’s Jobe Watson is 3rd favourite at $4.75 meaning it’s the first time the top three Brownlow favourites are from teams that failed to make the finals.
“Watson has been the best supported of the three favourites and is $6 into $4.75 after a stack of four figure bets,” Sullivan said.
“One punter just had a $1,000 quinella on Cotchin and Watson at $7,” Sullivan said.
Aside from the late plunge on Kennedy, Hawthorn’s Sam Mitchell has also been the subject of heavy support in the last week with his price firming substantially from $17 into $8.
