    Bonus credits

I wonder if someone could help me. When I have a free bet given by the bookmakers after placing a qualifying bet should i be adding it to the bonus credit column? I'm entering y in the free bet column when logging the bet I place with it and it. If you could also explain the reasoning as well so I can understand please.

    Hi michellew3004,

This is tricky because different countries use different nomenclature. It comes down to whether by "free bet", you mean a bonus bet (where only the profit of the bet is returned to the member) or free credit (where both the profit and stake are returned to the member). For a winning $10 wager at 2.50 decimal odds the pay outs are:
    Bonus bet: $15
    Free credit: $25

For the Deposits sheet, any bonus bets should be placed in the Bonus Bets table. The Bonus Credit / Free Credit table dates back to the days (it actually still happens overseas) where bookmakers would give members free money to play with. Again, the difference between bonus bets and free credit is with bonus bets only the profit from the bet is returned to the member. With free credit both the profit and original stake are returned to the member. Free credit generally comes with the condition that it is turned over X many times before making a withdrawal.

As an aside, the Deposits sheet is simply for those who want to keep track of their account balances through the Available Funds sheet. Many users of the spreadsheet don't use those two sheets.

As for the Bets worksheet, you enter Y into the free bet (BB) column when placing a bonus bet wager, but not for free credit. This is because free credit has the same properties, apart from turnover requirements, as regular funds.

I hope that helps! Sorry for the long-winded response. Let me know if you have further questions.
