    Queensland Oaks

VRC Oaks winner Dear Demi continues to drift in betting for Saturday’s Group 1 Queensland Oaks at Eagle Farm despite drawing gate 3 for the Group 1 feature race.

Dear Demi, once as short as $3.10 is an easing $3.40 favourite.

“Dear Demi’s had a long campaign and it’s her third start in as many Saturday’s so she’s certainly a risk,” Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said.

“Punters have been more interested in Gondokoro and there has also been a significant push for Moody’s runner Miss Zenella,” Sullivan said.

Gondokoro’s odds were slashed from $14 into $4 after her impressive second behind Dear Demi in The Roses, and she is now a $3.60 second favourite with Sportingbet. Miss Zenella has been backed from $22 into $12.

Express Power is a third favourite at $8.50.

The Kris Lees trained Soapy Star and Gai Waterhouse’s filly Porcellanus have emerged as the best backed contenders to win tomorrow’s Queensland Oaks at Eagle Farm, as punters shy away from the $3.70 equal favourites Dear Demi and Gondokoro.

Soapy Star is $18 into $16, while Porcellanus’ odds have been slashed from $21 into $13.

“Punters are being cautious because of the rain but they have been chipping away at Soapy Star because of her excellent record in heavy going,” Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said.

“Gai wouldn’t take Porcellanus to Brisbane just for a holiday and the filly is also attracting plenty of interest despite her inexperience,” Sullivan said.

Dear Demi has drifted from $3.30 to $3.70 with Sportingbet, while Godokoro has also drifted, from $3.50 to $3.70. Kris Lee’s other runner Express Power has been solid at $8.50.
