The following has been sourced from Sportsbet.com.au:
Caulfield hosts the G2 WFA Memsie Stakes with dual group winner Heart of Dreams and King’s Rose returning from spells. Both meet Rekindled Interest in what will be a hot race. Smart Missile has been smashed into $1.80 in the Run to the Rose whilst Helmut eases to $3.80.
Another good day’s racing at Caulfield with the big race the Memsie Stakes, although the McNeill Stakes is full of class and rivals it for the race of the day. Over at Rosehill the Run To The Rose is a forerunner to the Golden Rose and it looks to be at the mercy of Smart Missile, the only horse to conquer Sepoy.
The Group Three McNeil Stakes (Race4) is a 1200 metre event for three year olds and it is the race of the day at Caulfield. In a terrific betting race our traders have opted for the well bred Decircles. His resume doesn’t read as good as some of the others in the race, but the way he came back and won his maiden suggests he will be a three year old of note. Watch for him to be charging home late. Metonymy is the next pick. She was unlucky first up behind Satin Shoes and while she is back against the males, she does drop weight and fillies do have a good record in this race. Glissade and Satin Shoes are also definite chances. Glissade should get a better run this time; getting a trail from barrier five, while Satin Shoes was brave winning first up and does get some weight relief for this. Golden Archer is considered the “lay of the day”. He gets the maximum penalty and gives weight to some talented fillies and does come from a tricky alley in 10.
Satin Shoes $5.00, Metonymy $5.00, Golden Archer $5.50, Decircles $6.00, Do You Think $7.00, Glissade $7.50, Others $15.00 & above.
Race 5 is the Celebration Stakes run over 1700 metres and once again Peter Moody and Luke Nolen look to have stranglehold over a race with Testascana. She does draw a wide barrier, but she should be able to cross and lead and she still gets in well with the same weight. She has now won eight times from sixteen starts and our traders think she will make it nine. Vesper was good first up in a WFA race so expect him to be running on strong at the end. Lakedro ran second behind Testascana and he is drawn to get a nice run here and is getting close to a win. Domesky can win second up and will also be coming home late while Light Vision is considered a risk. He was back to his best winning over 2000 metres last start but our traders don’t like him coming back in distance.
Testacana $2.50, Vesper $4.50, Light Vision $8.50, Lakedro $9.00 Domesky $11.00, Tanby $17.00, Hissing Sid $17.00, Others $21.00 & above.
The main event at Caulfield is the Group Two Memsie Stakes (Race6), a WFA race run over 1400 metres. It is a race of moderate class where our traders are dropping down the list to the bottom weight King’s Rose. Again it is the Moody/Nolen factor, but the mare’s record in New Zealand cannot be ignored. She has won 6 of 12 and unlike some of the others isn’t looking at a ‘Cups’ preparation. She can win fresh. Heart Of Dreams is the proven WFA performer who is well drawn, but often runs best second up and he is first up here. Rekindled Interest ran an eye catching second in the Aurie’s Star so he is a genuine chance while Shamrocker is always competitive, but she seems to run better on the big tracks of Flemington and Randwick. Best at odds might be Linton. He is on a Cox Plate ‘prep’ rather than the two miles of the Melbourne Cup so could be forward first up.
Heart Of Dreams $3.80, King’s Rose $4.60, Rekindled Interest $4.80, Shamrocker $8.00, Absolutely $13.00, Linton $17.00, Red Colossus $17.00, Others $19.00 & above.
Race 7 is the Slickpix Stakes, a Listed race run over 1100 metres where our traders are forgiving Avenue for his run in Adelaide. On that day she missed the kick and wasn’t suited to a heavy track and she is back at Caulfield where she belongs. She has drawn wide, but after a couple of scratchings will come in and should be able to cross and lead them up. The blinkers on first time will definitely help. Acorns is the big watch. He absolutely flew first time in last ‘prep’ and is drawn to get a cosy run in behind the leaders. Grand Duels runs well fresh and seems to respond when ridden quietly and being ridden by Steven Arnold. Swiss Rose should get a chance to run home with the speed on, while once again our traders are prepared to lay Atomic Force. It’s his first look at Caulfield and he won’t get a rain affected surface.
Avenue $3.30, Atomic Force $6.50, Panipique $7.00, Acorns $7.50, Grand Duels $9.00, Chosen To Fly $11.00, Swiss Rose $12.00, Anabaa’s Legacy $12.00, Others $17.00 & above

Lay Of The Day Golden Archer
The highlight of the day at Rosehill is the Group Three Run To The Rose (Race 5), a lead up to the big Group One race in a fortnight. Our traders are confident that the hot pot Smart Missile will be very hard to beat. He is the only horse to beat Sepoy and has won a trial in preparation for this. He has drawn the widest, but should be able to go forward and sit second in the run as Karuta Queen takes up the running. Foxwedge has the fitness edge after winning the San Domenico and Corey Brown should be able to box seat behind the favourite and is the biggest danger. Helmet has to carry the 59 kg and will not be fully wound up for this, while Karuta Queen didn’t seem to handle the 1100 metres last time so it is hard to see her getting the extra 100 metres. Best chance of a ‘roughie’ running the drum is Flight Of Pegasus.
The Hot Snitzel, Uate form is not as hot as this, but he looks to have some upside.
Smart Missile $1.80, Foxwedge $3.80, Helmet $4.20, Karuta Queen $12.00, Flight Of Pegasus $17.00, Diamond To Pegasus $41.00, Others $67.00 & above.
The Parramatta Premier’s Cup (Race 6) is a listed race over 1800 metres and it is a difficult one for punters. Brave The Way is the favourite and is entitled to be on his second behind Foreteller in the Prelude and especially with Glen Boss taking the ride, but our traders are looking for more value. Hume is fit and looking for the 1800 metres. He is wearing blinkers the first time and Chris Munce is giving up a good book of rides in Brisbane to come down and ride the eight year old. Crafty Irna should get a lovely run about 3rd or fourth and she showed in the autumn she is a quality mare winning the Adrian Knox Stakes. They Won’t Last is fit after racing well in both Adelaide and Melbourne while Mourayan looks the likely leader and will be hoping to control the tempo of the race. He has a good second up record.
Brave The Way $4.60, The Verminator $4.80, Mourayan $9.00, Hume $9.00, They Won’t Last $11.00, Crafty Irna $11.00, Break Card $12.00, Others $13.00 & above.
