    Emirates Stakes Preview

Below are some comments from the traders at IASbet.com.

Emirates Stakes – Flemington Race 6
Typical wide Emirates with plenty of winnings chances. King’s Rose ($5.50) was unlucky in the Cox Plate when seventh. She’s very well weighted here with 53.5kg and is clearly the one to beat. Secret Admirer ($6.50) will be better suited at Flemington and her record at the mile is two wins from two starts including an Epsom. Next pick is Jimmy Choux ($6.00) who ran a very honest race in the Cox Plate. If he can handle the weight and awkward draw he’ll be in the finish again. Love Conquers All ($8.50) should get a good run on the speed and won well at Caulfield. He ran well at his only attempt at the mile when seventh in the Doncaster.

Matriarch Stakes – Flemington Race 7
Sydney mare Skyerush ($3.20) is top pick. She put in a big run in the Myer on Derby Day when coming from well back. She should settle closer here and is better suited at the 2,000m. Platinum Passion ($5.00) should get a good run on the pace, is racing in good form and also has an excellent record at the distance. Vintedge ($9.00) is backing up from Cup Day, where she ran bravely to just miss in a close finish. If she can overcome the wide barrier, expect her to be competitive. The roughie in the race is Sean Baile Mor ($17.00). She looks a promising stayer and will be suited by a good tempo.

Queen Elizabeth Stakes – Flemington Race 8
Top two chances are with Macedonian and Bauer. Macedonian ($4.80) is racing well, chasing Niwot in the Lexus last week. His record at Flemington is very good and he’ll be hard to beat. Bauer ($2.30) probably should have won Dunaden’s Geelong Cup and was unlucky not to gain a start in the Melbourne Cup. He’ll be looking for a consolation prize in this. Slight query for him might be the lack of speed. The next bracket includes Shoot Off ($10.00) and Anudjawan ($8.50). Both are very solid stayers with Shoot Off performing well in the Caulfield Cup.
