Weekend racing preview - Dec 3

Below are comments on selected races from the traders at IASbet.

Kingston Town Classic - Ascot Race 7

Last Group One of the year. Top pick is Ranger ($3.60) who looks suited back at weight for age and the extra trip should suit. Forgive his run in the Railway where he suffered interference. If he stays out of trouble he'll race well in this. King Saul ($5.00) gets in well with 52kg. Three year olds have a good record in this race and he looked good winning the Guineas. Luckygray ($3.00) is a slight query at the trip and is up 5.5kg in weight. He's racing well so cannot leave him out, but looks to face a tougher task this time. Tranquility ($9.00) looks the value runner. With Paul Harvey on board, he should go forward and could dictate the tempo.

Scahill Stakes - Ascot Race 8

Waratah's Secret ($2.15) gets back to a preferred trip here. He was caught up in traffic and interference in the Railway. Looks suited at under WFA, he can control the race from the front and sure to take running down. Grand Nirvana ($3.20) has positive jockey change with Brad Rawiller aboard. Is suited at 1400m and will be running on. Elusive Touch ($8.50) will go forward from his good draw and ran well behind Ortensia last time. Morant ($9.00) gets back, but has the class to win this type of race.

Festival Stakes - Rosehill Race 6

King Lionheart ($4.80) has had a break but was well in the market in the Epsom so has to be respected at this level. He goes well fresh and with Nash Rawiller on top he should race on the pace. His stable mate Kontiki Park ($7.00) looks the biggest danger. He looked good winning last time when he stepped up to open class. He's improving and will be competitive here. Lightinthenite ($7.00) is lightly raced but has a good record. He did look fully tested when winning last time, this class rise might test him. Fibrillation ($10.00) was placed first up. She had an Oaks preparation last autumn so has plenty of class, but needs another run.
