Heavy betting on Pierro and Glencadam Gold

Sportingbet Australia has taken a $100,000 bet on the Gai Waterhouse trained Pierro at $1.35 to win Saturday’s Caulfield Guineas and money continues to pour in for stablemate Glencadam Gold to win the Caulfield Cup.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said punters can’t get enough of the Waterhouse duo.

“Aside from the $100 thousand dollar bet on Pierro we’ve taken a stack of big four figure bets on the unbeaten colt to win the Guineas and some punters got as much as $3.20 about him at the end of August,” Sullivan said.

“There’s been plenty of support for Pierro to win the Cox Plate too and he’s been backed from $3.20 into $2.70 over the last few days.”

Meanwhile money continues to pour in for Glencadam Gold to win the Caulfield Cup with his odds being slashed from $7.50 into $5 in the last 24 hours on the back of a number of solid $3000 and $4000 bets.

“He was $23 to win the Caulfield Cup before the Metropolitan,” Sullivan said.

Sportingbet Australia has rated Gai Waterhouse a $61 hope to train the winner of the Caulfield Cup, Sportingbet Cox Plate and the Melbourne Cup.

Money continues to pour in for the Gai Waterhouse trained import Glencadam Gold to win the 2012 Caulfield Cup with punters slashing his price from $5.00 into $4.40 at Sportingbet Australia.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said punters’ confidence is sky high after the announcement veteran Sydney jockey Jim Cassidy will take the mount.

“We wrote a $7,500 bet at $4.80 for Glencadam Gold to win the Caulfield Cup and before the ink was dry we’d taken another $4,000 each way at the $4.80.”

“Cassidy is a superb front running hoop and has won the Caulfield Cup twice before so it’s yet another positive according to punters,” Sullivan said.

Sportingbet Australia has also taken a bet of $5,000 on Glencadam Gold to win the Melbourne Cup at $10 while Waterhouse’s other imported Cup hope Fiorente is $23 into $20 after a bet of $220,000 to $10,000.

Glencadam Gold is $4.20 into $3.90 with Sportingbet Australia for the Caulfield Cup following the announcement Seville is out of the Spring carnival.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said Glencadam Gold could start the hottest Caulfield Cup favourite in the modern era.

“December Draw started at $3.25 last year and that was the shortest price since 1975,” Sullivan said.

“The way things are going Glencadam Gold could start the hottest favourite in nearly 40 years and the punters keep lining up to back him.”

Sportingbet Australia took a $7,500 bet at $4.80 for Glencadam Gold to win the Caulfield Cup and another $4,000 each way at the $4.80 yesterday.
