Adelaide have been clearly the best backed side to win the Flag this week following their demolition of former title favourites, Carlton, last weekend.
Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said there had been huge money for the Crows this week after they had gone largely unnoticed by punters so far this season.
“We put them back up at $9.00 and took bets of $40,000 to $5000 and $24,000 to $3000 and the money has kept coming for them since we turned them off to $8.00,” Sullivan said.
“The Crows had been friendless early in the year and were $51 just a weeks ago on the back of a disappointing 2011.
“They are no longer under the radar though and we have held 20 times more on them this week than we had previously for the whole season.”
Sullivan said there had also been good money for a couple of the Crows individual stars to have big seasons with Patrick Dangerfield well backed for the Brownlow and Taylor Walker back into second favourite for the Coleman Medal.
“Plenty of punters found Dangerfield before the season at $151 and he has been well backed this week as well at $21 while Scott Thompson has also been backed from $26 to $15,” he said.
“Taylor Walker had blown out following his suspension but he didn’t lose much ground last week and he has been popular with punters at $10 this week.”
