Punters abandon Dane Swan in Brownlow medal betting

Punters have abandoned Dane Swan in Brownlow medal betting after the Collingwood star was sensationally suspended for two matches for breaking club protocol by having a night out on the town.

A $7.00 third favourite before his suspension, Swan’s price has more than doubled out to $15.00 with Sportingbet Australia.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said punters believe Swan’s suspension will have a dramatic impact on his chances of winning back to back medals.

“Punters have been backing Swan solidly in Brownlow betting all season but he’s been friendless since news of his suspension broke”, Sullivan said.

“The money is now piling in for Jobe Watson and Gary Ablett”.

Jobe Watson has been backed from $4.00 into $3.75 while Gary Ablett is $5.50 into $4.75. Scott Thompson is a steady $6.00 third favourite.

Swan’s suspension has also impacted on Saturday night’s Sydney v Collingwood market with the Swans trimming up from $1.65 to $1.52 and Collingwood out to $2.50.
