MVT Sports Upcoming Day of American Sport

    Hey all,
First time poster, 5 games in America I like tomorrow, 2 NHL games and 3 NBA games.

    NHL
    Pittsburgh Penguins @ Vancouver Canucks
    The Pick: Penguins M/L
    Stake: 1 unit Penguins M/L = .90 unit profit
Why: The Pittsburgh Penguins have shown they are quite capable of scoring goals without Evgeni Malkin, but they were more than happy to have him contribute in his return. Malkin and the Eastern Conference-leading Penguins open a three-game swing through Western Canada on Tuesday night against the Vancouver Canucks, who are turning to rookie goaltender Eddie Lack for consecutive games. Pittsburgh had another big night offensively after scoring 30 goals in the nine games Malkin missed. He was on the second line with James Neal and Jussi Jokinen, and the trio combined for five goals and three assists. Eddie Lack will be in goals for the Canucks, a young guy who is still learning the ropes. He is going to have a very difficult time in goal against the likes of Malkin, Neal and Jokinen, Vancouver's winless skid reached four games (0-2-2) and looks set to reach 5 (0-3-2).

St Louis Blues @ Edmonton Oilers
The Pick: St Louis Blues M/L
Stake: 1 unit St Louis Blues M/L= .57 unit profit
Why: Based on St. Louis' recent success in Edmonton, not to mention the Oilers own the worst record in the Western Conference, it would appear the Blues have a good chance to continue their current surge. In the midst of their longest road point streak in almost 14 years, the Blues look for a season-high sixth consecutive victory Tuesday night while attempting to shut out the Oilers at Rexall Place for a third straight time. This game will pit one of the best teams in the competition against one of the worst teams in the competition and no simulation can be found that slightly resembles an upet. Blues easily.

    NBA
San Antonio Spurs @ Memphis Grizzlies
    The Pick: Spurs -5 ½
    Stake: 1 unit Spurs -5 ½ = .90 unit profit
Why: San Antonio Spurs have had a good time playing against the Memphis Grizzlies this season, winning the last three of them. Splitter will be a big loss, however they have enough big men and class in the team to cover for him in games against inferior opposition. The Spurs have been really good on their travels this year going 13-3 and are 7-3 in their last 10. The Grizzlies have been having a particularly hard time stopping Parker and Duncan, who are genuine match winners. A lot will come down to DeMarcus Cousins for the Grizzlies, who rely very heavily on him, while he has been playing in red hot form, I don’t think he’ll sustain it in this game. The Grizzlies seem to stuggle at home this year for some reason going 7-11. Parker and co will make it 7-12 with an 8 point win looking most likely.

New Orleans Pelicans @ Miami Heat
    The Pick: Heat -8 ½
    Stake: 1 unit Heat -8 ½ = .90 unit profit
Why: The Heat have owned the Pelicans in recent history winning by an average of 15.3, and with no Ryan Anderson who is the best Pelican in this team, this has the potential to be a very long night in Miami for the Pelicans. The Heat are 15-3 at home while the Pelicans are 6-12 on the road. The Heat have been finishing games off really strong while the Pelicans have been fading in the back end of games. Bosh, James and Wade will all put some points on the board against this Pelicans team, and most indicators are showing a double digit win for the Heat.

Oklahoma City Thunder @ Utah Jazz
    The Pick: Thunder -6 ½
    Stake: 1 unit Thunder -6 ½ = .90 unit profit
Why: Coming off a career high in points, Reggie Jackson is likely to remain aggressive Tuesday night when the Thunder go for the second-longest road winning streak in franchise history in a matchup with the Utah Jazz. Oklahoma City (27-7) has won its last eight games away from home and wont get much of a better shot at making history. The Jazz offence is very ordinary and their defence isn’t up to par. Reggie Jackson is starting to hit his straps in place of Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant is just a point scoring machine. The Thunder are a great team and are strong on the road going 12-4, while the Jazz are 6-10 at home and have lost by an average of 7.7 this season. No simulation we run shows the Jazz keeping up in this one, with most indicators showing a double digit victory to the Thunder.
