This is an absolute key AFC East divisional game. The pair are tied on 5-4 two games behind the surging Patriots and it is incredibly difficult to see the loser of this being able to even force their way into the wildcard picture .
Both teams are coming of late losses last week, with the Dolphins giving up a late TD to lose to the Lions and the Bills dominated for three and a half quarters before losing a ten point lead to the Chiefs, who scored two touchdowns inside four minutes late in the game.
Buffalo impressed for much of that match up, their defense was on top and a couple of key turnovers cost them dearly , having to settle for six points on three trips to the red zone, one a fumble and then coughing up a punt return which set up the win. Even after all that, they still had a chance to win, with four attempts from the KC15 yard line . There was a lot to like from that perfomance , the errors are an issue , but they have the dominant defense to win this and I am not sure that the Dolphins match up well here with the quick turnaround, having struggled to get much going offensively against a strong defensive line (#1 ranked) on Sunday and now meeting another similarly strong one, just a couple of days later . Their only TD against the Lions came following a big special unit play and Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill struggles when he is rushed and to avoid trouble in the pocket, far too often throwing into trouble areas.
In the early season meeting in Buffalo, the Bills won 29-10 and were all over Tannehill and the Dolphins early and that set the tempo for the game, Miami had just six first downs and 62 yards of offense in the first half and never got beyond their own 41 yard line ! The Bills really got inside their head and forced a number of errors, including blocked and muffed punts ( different kickers) and I feel we might see more of the same tonight and a fourth straight win in the series for the Bills, the last two wins both came by 19 points and they have given up just the one TD to the Dolphins across the last nine quarters. I feel the Bills might win this and the 3.10 is tempting, but it seems churlish to give up the very decent looking handicap start.
