The 2011/12 English Premier League season is fast drawing to an end as we enter round 35 of 38.
It is a two horse race for the title between the clubs from Manchester. Manchester United hold a five point lead over City, but a mouth-watering visit to their city rivals looms on April 30th (May 1st AEST).
At the other end of the table, Wolves look all but relegated on 23 points. Aston Villa (35), Wigan (34) and QPR (31) sit perilously close to the drop zone, with Bolton (29) and Blackburn (28) currently sitting 18th and 19th. It should be noted that Bolton have two games in hand over their relegation rivals. Wigan are arguably the most in-form team in this bracket, having beaten Man Utd and Arsenal in their last two games. They have won four of their last five and were very unlucky in their 2-1 loss to Chelsea.
One of the games of the round is the London derby between Arsenal and Chelsea. Chelsea will be on a high after dispatching Tottenham 5-1 in the FA Cup semi-finals and Barcelona 1-0 in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals. They currently sit 6th on the Premier League table, and require a strong finish to the season if they are to sneak into a UEFA Champions League spot for next season. They are two points behind Tottenham (4th) and Newcastle (5th - on goal difference).
