The Socceroos are attracting plenty of support from punters in their quest for a 2014 World Cup finals berth, with Australia’s odds of defeating Iraq at ANZ stadium tonight being cut from $1.24 into $1.19.
“We’ve taken a stack of four-figure bets for the Socceroos and even a significant five-figure wager,” Sportingbet Australia spokesman Andrew Brown said.
“More than 95% of the money we’re holding is for the Socceroos to win and Iraq’s odds have drifted from $12 out to $15,” Brown said.
A draw is $6.25.
In correct score betting, the Socceroos winning 2-0 is a $5 favourite ahead of 1-0 at $5.50 and 3-0 at $6.50.
Tim Cahill is a $4.50 favourite to kick the first goal ahead of Josh Kennedy and Arthie Thompson, both at $5.
