    2013 US PGA Championship

Tiger Woods has been heavily backed to break his five-year major drought in this week’s US PGA after a stunning seven-stroke win in the Bridgestone Invitational.

“Tiger firmed from $4.50 into $4.25 this morning but the punters have come again, he is now into $4 and is a clear favourite for the PGA. The punters love backing Tiger and he is getting into the odds he used to be when he dominated the Majors five and six years ago,” Centrebet’s Michael Felgate said.

Woods is the only player under double-figures at $4 with British Open winner Phil Mickelson second favourite at $15. Aussie Masters winner Adam Scott is on the next line of betting at $19 followed by US Open Champion Justin Rose and defending PGA Champion Rory McIlroy at $23.

“Scott and Mickelson have had some support to beat Tiger but no-one is interested in last year’s winner McIlroy who would struggle to hit the side of a barn at the moment,” Felgate said.

World number 1 Tiger Woods continues to attract heavy support to win the 2013 PGA Championship, beginning on Thursday at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York.

Woods is a clear-cut $4.50 favourite ahead of Phil Mickelson and Adam Scott, both at $17.

One Sportingbet punter stands to collect $90,000 after placing a $20,000 bet on the 14-time major winner.

“It’s been one-way traffic for Tiger and he’s our worst way by a long way,” Sportingbet Australia spokesman Andrew Brown said.

“Our punters are convinced this is the tournament Tiger will break his 5 year major title drought,” Brown said.

Henrik Stenson is a $26 fourth favourite ahead of Justin Rose and Brandt Snedeker, both at $29.00.

Scott is $1.75 to be Top Australian, ahead of Jason Day at $4 and Matt Jones at $12.
