Punters at Sportingbet Australia are supporting super maxi’s Wild Thing and Lahana to upset favourite and five-time line honours champion Wild Oats XI in next week’s Sydney To Hobart yacht race.

“We’ve slashed Wild Thing’s odds from $10 to $8.50 after a number of significant bets while Lahana has also been well supported from $17 into $13,” Sportingbet spokesman Andrew Brown said.

“Punters are loving that Wild Thing is bigger and faster this year and they think that she’s more than capable of matching it with Wild Oats XI,” Brown said.

Wild Oats XI is a clear cut $1.47 favourite to claim her sixth Sydney To Hobart line honours victory.

“We’ve taken a few healthy four-figure bets on Wild Oats XI but the constant stream of cash for Wild Thing suggests punters smell an upset,” Brown said.

Ppunters have unleashed a number of significant bets on Wild Oats XI to claim her sixth line honours victory in the Sydney To Hobart. The super maxi has also been well supported into clear cut favouritism to be the first out of Sydney heads.

“We’ve taken two big bets of $10,000 on Wild Oats XI to claim line honours and she’s been backed from $1.35 into $1.28 after as much as $1.60 was available at the start of the month,” Sportingbet spokesman Andrew Brown said.

“She’s also a $1.40 favourite and the only one the punters want to be the first out of Sydney heads,” Brown said.

Ragamuffin-Loyal has been unwanted with punters and has drifted from $3.60 to $4.50 for line honours, while Wild Thing has eased slightly from $8.50 to $9.

Loki is a $4 favourite in front of Wild Oats XI at $8 to be the handicap winner. Southern Excellence has had some support at big odds and is $26 into $21 to be the handicap winner.
