Round 2 - Manly well backed against Wests

Despite a string of injuries, Manly has been well supported by punters to beat the Wests Tigers in Gosford on Friday night.

The Sea Eagles will be missing Glenn Stewart, Steve Matai and Kieran Foran still remains under an injury cloud but punters have backed them from $2.24 to $2.14 at Sportingbet Australia.

The Tigers have their own injury concerns and are coming off a tough golden point match against the Sharks.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said the Sea Eagles were impressive in Auckland especially after their travel schedule of late that included the World Club Challenge in the UK and the punters seem to agree.

“We opened the Sea Eagles at $2.24 and the phone started ringing straight away with bets of $9500, $5000 and $2500 coming in the first couple of hours,” Sullivan said.

“The punters obviously believe Manly has the depth to cover the injuries and get the job done over the Tigers.”

Sullivan said both sides had remained popular in Premiership betting too with the Tigers joint favourites at $7.00 and Manly at $9.00.

“There has been good money for both the Tigers and Manly to win the title this week despite Wests not being overly impressive in Round 1 and Manly suffering some injury problems,” he said.
