Manly back to being co-favourites to win Premiership

Punters have backed Manly into NRL Premiership favouritism following the Sea Eagles’ impressive wins over North Queensland and Souths. Manly are now $4.00 equal favourites with the Bulldogs to win the NRL Grand Final.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said there’s been a steady flow of cash for the Sea Eagles.

“They were as much as $7.00 to win the competition before they beat the Cowboys so it’s a considerable move,” Sullivan said.

“We’ve taken a number of four figure bets on Manly to win the premiership in the last week.”

The Bulldogs are solid $4.00 equal favourites with Melbourne third favourite at $4.25.

Souths have eased from $4.50 out to $5.50 but the Broncos have been the biggest drifters in Premiership betting, with their odds more than tripling from $7.00 to $23.00 over the past three weeks.

Punters have backed Manly into $3.50 outright favouritism to win the 2012 NRL grand final after the defending premiers made it four straight wins with a convincing 42-20 victory over Newcastle.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan says only Melbourne has been at a shorter price to win the grand final during the season.

“Melbourne was supported at $3 back in May and aside from Manly is the only other team to be as short as $3.50 since betting on the grand final began,” Sullivan said.

“Manly has been crunched in recent weeks with their price halving from $7 at the start of August to the $3.50 available now.”

“They are by far and away the punters pick at the moment.”

The Bulldogs have also firmed from $4 to $3.75 after their 1 point win over Wests Tigers while Melbourne are solid $4 third favourites. Souths has eased to $7 after being as short as $4.35 two weeks ago.

One Sportingbet punter might be questioning his decision to put $3,000 on Brisbane to win the Grand Final at $26 last Friday. The Broncos are now out to $29 after being as short as $5 back in May.

The Melbourne Storm are $4.00 out to $4.25 to win the NRL grand final after their final minute, 2 point win over the sixth placed Cronulla Sharks.

Cronulla has also eased from $21.00 to $23.00 with Sportingbet Australia to win the grand final.

Manly has been the best backed of the top contenders after Round 25 and are $3.50 into $3.00 outright favourites. It matches the shortest price any team has been since markets opened as Melbourne were $3 earlier in the season during their hot streak.

"Manly has been crunched in betting in recent weeks," Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said.

"As much as $7 was available about them at the start of the month so their price has more than halved in a few weeks."

The Bulldogs are $3.75 out to $4.50 third favourites while South Sydney has also eased from its pre round 25 price of $7.00 to $7.50 fourth favourites.

The Cowboys are $12.00 into $9.00 and the Raiders $51.00 into $34.00.
