    Djokovic favourite for US Open

Novak Djokovic may have gone down to world number one Roger Federer in the final at Cincinnati but punters remain confident the Serbian is the one to beat at next week’s US Open.

Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said Djokovic is a solid favourite to capture his second grand slam of the year.

“With Rafael Nadal out of the tournament due to injury Djokovic has firmed from $2.80 into $2.40 to win the US Open,”, Sullivan said.

“Punters don’t appear concerned with the result in Cincinnati and they think Djokovic has the advantage over Federer when it’s best of five sets.”

Federer is a $3.30 equal second favourite with Andy Murray. Australia’s Lleyton Hewitt is at the massive odds of $500 to repeat his 2001 result at Flushing Meadows, while compatriot Bernard Tomic is $331.

In the women’s draw Serena Williams is a $2 favourite ahead of Maria Sharapova and Victoria Azarenka at $6. Australia’s Sam Stosur is a $34 chance.
