2011 Wimbledon Champion Novak Djokovic has been heavily backed from $2.80 into $2.25 outright favouritism to win his second Wimbledon title at the 2013 All England Club tournament.
“Punters have reacted to Djokovic’s dream draw through to the final and he’s the only one they’re backing,” Sportingbet Australia spokesman Andrew Brown said.
“Nadal has been friendless since the draw because the reality is that he will most likely have to beat Federer, Murray and Djokovic, if he’s going to take the title,” Brown said.
Andy Murray is a $4.50 favourite ahead of Rafael Nadal, whose odds have drifted from $4 to $5 after the draw. Defending champion Roger Federer is an $8 chance.
Milos Raonic is a $3.50 favourite to record the fastest serve of the tournament, and a $5 equal favourite with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga to serve the most aces.
Bernard Tomic is $1.65 to be Top Australian in front of Lleyton Hewitt at $3.75, while Marinko Matesovic is $5.00 into $4.25 and the only Australian in the gentlemen’s draw that is favourite for his Round 1 match.
In the ladies’ draw, Serena Williams has been supported from $1.57 into clear-cut $1.42 favouritism in front of Maria Sharapova at $7.50 and Victoria Azarenka at $8.
“We’ve taken a mountain of four-figure bets on Serena to win and punters are also interested in the $3.30 about her winning the tournament without dropping a set,” Brown said.
